How did you first start barracking for your team?

My footy history is complicated but I supported the Demons with my mum as a kid (my sister supported the Eagles with my dad). Neither my mum or I watched a game of theirs but my mum "supports them" by; being a member, knowing if they won or not and always tipping them.I probably knew 5 Demons players names growing up (Green, Davey, Jurrah, Jmar...?) I watched every Eagles game with my dad though growing up and knew all the names from Jackovich to Judd but didn't really understand the finer points of football. Shared in his excitement during the 05/06 years. He still has a recording of the 06 final on a crappy DVD he made himself somewhere

I moved away from home to the big smoke for Uni and began rooming with a Singaporean guy named TC. I wanted him to get into the sport so I made him watch the Eagles V Carlton finals game in 2011. It was a nailbiter and I was telling him the histories and moments of all the old guard like Embley and Kerr who were still around and I was genuinely invested in the game. When we won I was ecstatic and called my dad. Sort of clicked then who I really supported and haven't looked back.

Demons are still my number 3 team though. I went to every 2012 Eagles home game including our thrashing of North, such a good day. The reason I say Demons are my number 3 team is Freo is my number 2. After I moved into a rental with my best mate who is also a redditor and rabid freo fan I watched every Eagles and Freo game each weekend. He taught me a lot about footy in general and made me appreciate it a whole lot more (along with these subs!). I know lots about their list and history, support East Freo as a Wafl club (If a shark club joins the AFL I am fucking out of the Eagles, Sharks rule) and love going for a session into Fremantle. So I don't really buy into the rivalry but I go for West coast in derbies and barely felt the GF loss for Freo if that makes a difference
