MEGATHREAD: The Hawthorn report.

It’s absolutely disgraceful and foul if what the abc has reported is true. But considering how horribly fucked up the allegations are, in an absurdly evil human manner, it just doesn’t make any sense. Discrediting the experiences of indigenous people does not feel right. But being skeptical is crucial to understanding anything. None of us here on this subreddit were at the club during the alleged time period nor were we in those meetings. Same goes for the abc and those who actually did the review. I’m not trying to be one of those people who says “gah this is all bullshit”.

A lot of this does make sense and you read it and think yeah I can see Clarko being that way. The Cyril situation adds up too. But that’s the problem we fall into very easily. I just think it’s extremely important to think critically about this, rather than just blindly believing the allegations to be completely 100% true. Even if it’s slightly less horrible than what it already seems it’s still horrible. My guess which isn’t worth anything is that it’s somewhere in the middle. And if so, it’s still horrifying and even right now I couldn’t be more disappointed in my club. Again I’m not trying to be a contrarian or ignorant about this. I genuinely want to discuss the nature of whether or not this should be completely accepted as fact.
