Great. If that's true, good for you. You know what you're not though? At the top. And I'm talking about people at the fucking top. Very few of them get there by hard work. I'm not even saying hard work can't get you to the top, but there are countless artificial barriers that push the hardworking down and elevate lazy heirs. You're right that in our society pretty much anyone can work their way to the middle, where you sit currently based on what you've said.

But middle class life with a startup business and a job and a two car garage, whatever, is not even remotely similar to being in that upper echelon of society who can get someone a six-figure job or get a congressperson's vote with as little as a name drop. Those people, by and large, were put there by birth. And contrary to what you seem to think, allowing them to sit at the top and make the big decisions does have many ripple effects throughout society. They're the ones who resist new freedoms, who shape the law so underpaid poor can't feed their kids, and sick people can't get treatment, and recent graduates will never be out of debt let alone have the financial security to risk starting a business, and half a million people (most of whom would happily go to work but are either considered "undesirable" job applicants, or are too sick (physically or mentally) and unable to afford the treatment they would need to stabilize and return to work) live homeless, exposed to the elements by no fault of their own.

Don't you tell me that's a fair society. Don't you tell me those people put themselves there. That's a fucking lie.
