How it feels to be a Tharja supporter on this sub

I read of all of the mages in wikis and found out their general backstory.

As for why I stress about character so much, that's because the earlier Fire Emblem series did have a fair amount of character. The stories of FE7 and 10 (which I'm probably gonna end up watching cause it sounds better than most generic dime-for-dozen animes today) prove that much. Character helps a game stay fresh and distinguished. I don't completely blame the lack of character on generic anime tropes like Tharja, Camilla, hell Corrin, etc., but rather Fire Emblem is a series that has been running for a long time. Making original designs and stories is a pain, and with Fire Emblem becoming for popular in NA, there is gonna be a higher demand for quicker releases which compromises the big C-word.

Think of some games that wouldn't be the same without their unique story - my favorite example of this is Dark Souls / Bloodborne which are both excellent games, but what truly separates them from a generic RPG is how much depth there is in each turn of those games music, lore, and atmosphere wise. Dark souls 3 got some flak for lacking character because of the abundance of DS1 references, much like how they ran out of steam, Fire Emblem is starting to as well, which upsets much of the fan base. This is best seen by the complaint of what the final boss often is in Fire Emblem - a dragon (generic evil creature that kills knights/ humanity).

I do not by any means hold Fire Emblem to the same standards as Soulsborne lore, but some amount of character that divides Fire Emblem's stories from being a generic anime would be nice. Notice the trend - Awakening had some tropes then followed up by Fates which was chock-full of them (both still had some really cool designs and characters though). Fates had some backlash, and now we have a re-vamp of an older Fire Emblem which NA didn't have much of a chance to play.

Imagine if every Fire Emblem from here on out had the same/ similar plot to Fates. Would you complain about a lack of character now? Yes or no, that's you, but I simply wanted to show why character/ personality is so important to some players. Also I don't hate anyone who favors an anime trope or whatever - people have different interests.
