How is this possible?

Actually there is no set answer, there are a variety of correct answers, depending on several factors. One is the size of the batch and how much is it ground up. Another factor is equipment, are you using a basic oven, scientific hotplate etc. another factor is the starting state of the weed. If you have some really dry older weed, it may already be partially decarbed, which does happen naturally over time.

Any temperature over 220 and under 310 degrees will decarb your weed. The hotter the temperature, the faster the decarb. Once the material is 70% decarbed, the thc (decarboxylated thc-a, non-psychoative) degrades faster to cbn than The thc-a can convert to thc. Cbn is a degraded version of thc with about 10% of the psychoactive piwer of thc and is more sedative. I know this all sounds confusing but I figure I'll tell you what I know and you can sort through it. There is a reason I say all of that because the decarb is delicate and really impacts the quality of an edible high, you also have to factor in heat after extraction if you are going to cook with coconut oil or butter, which I do not. In my opinion, it's best to extract during the decarb directly into coconut oil, the reason is because it doesn't matter what the starting state of the thc-a to thc ratio is, you will be able to tell when the decarb is getting close to done because the CO2 bubble production will slow down, letting you know that the decarb is nearly finished.

I have a corning digital scientific hot plate so I'll tell you what I do for mine. I use about a teaspoon of oil in a pyrex dish for 1 gram of weed. Use just enough oil to cover the material, and sprinkle a quarter teaspoon of soy lecithin granules. 22 minutes at 285 has been the most effective time and temperature for me. Allot of people think that is too hot, but I have used this method hundreds of times for personal use. The oil is preheated so it stays at that temp for the whole time other than when I first add the material, it cools to about 240 and works back up to 285 within minutes. I let it cool and put it into 00 gelatin caps. .5 G worth in the pills, with the material in the pill along with the oil will get me to a 7-8 and if i really want to get rocked, I'll do .75G.

You can also do this method in an oven, just not as scientifically. Preheat your oven to 285, maybe hotter or colder depending on your ovens temperature swings and if the temp is bear accurate. Once the material is preheated (you can get a surface ir temp gun for home depot for 30 bucks), pour the material in and sprinkle on the lecithin if you feel like it. Close the oven and set a timer for 22 min. You have to play with your method and make tweaks based on your available equipment. Also there is what happens inside the body but I wont ramble on that right now. I do suggest taking the edible 4 hours after you have eaten and wait a good 15 min after you have eaten the edible to eat food. Thats what has gotten me the best results. I'm not a scientist and I only make these doses for personal health use, but allot of trial and error and research has gone into what you have read here if you have bothered to read this far, I'm not here to argue, just offering up some info that I wish I had found in my own research.
