I am a fourth year and can give you my perspective. I’m a big guy who has never really had any issues with crime/shootings. Tbh I would say I have been pretty lucky. If you stay street smart and don’t put yourself in dangerous situations you will be fine. Here are some tips.

1. Don’t go anywhere when it’s dark by yourself if it’s not on campus.
2. Don’t listen or talk to homeless people, they aren’t your friends
3. Stay vigilant of what is going on around you, if you are uncomfortable with the situation, get out
4. Campus is a fairly safe space, criminals for the most part won’t go inside of it
5. Call the cops if something is suspicious
