The Humanity Star - Visible from space with the naked eye, the Humanity Star is a highly reflective satellite that blinks brightly across the night sky to create a shared experience for everyone on the planet.

Well, this isn't creating any significant light pollution.

I think worrying about the light pollution from this thing, is a lot like worrying about the light pollution generated by a single firefly in a forest on a moonless night, when you're trying to enjoy the darkness.

ALSO: pick just a handful and random satellites and their combined light total will exceed this little disco ball of a "star" in space!

GO even further: Add up the all the reflected light from thousands of total satellites in orbit (not to mention some space junk, vastly larger than satellites) and this little ball is utterly insignificant.

It was simply just a cool, awesome, sciency fun thing to do (that could spark some interest in astronomy with some of today's youth).
