Illinois Board of Higher Education chair: Nation “standing at a dangerous precipice”

Hi, I am a scientist with a graduate degree in physics from Harvard. The problem isn’t lack of STEM, the problem is a growing tide of anti-intellectualism and disinterest in learning things that matter. Does science and technology matter? Absolutely! But teaching kids about the past and present of our society is also a critical component to raising THINKERS.

Y’all raise STEM up on the pedestal, but I can honestly say that a better understanding of history, social sciences, and cultural/literature analysis would solve more problems than having more programmers or scientists.

We already have brilliant scientists that you refuse to listen to, yet you keep saying the problem is we don’t have enough. Your ignorance is BLINDING
