Im 14 starting my freshman year.

You should definitely try out. Don't live the rest of your life regretting the decision not to. Give it a shot and see what happens. And even if you get cut you will be able to see what you need to work on or how much you need to improve to play the next year.

Tryouts vary depending on the coaches. Most coaches will test some sort of running speed. The 60 yard is most common but it depends on how your tryouts are held. We had to do ours inside a few years so we did sprints on a basketball court which is much shorter.

They will usually have people take the positions on the field they are trying out for and run a fielding drill where they hit a few balls to each people and see how they move on the field.

Most people will then do some form of hitting off live pitching. Whether that be against the guys who are trying out as pitchers or in a cage with a coach throwing to you. They will evaluate your swing more than they will evaluate results.

If you are considering pitching those tryouts are usually held separately and they have each guy throw a decent amount of pitches to showcase what they've got.

Don't go in thinking other people are better or worse than you because you have no idea what they are evaluating. Do the cliche shit like hustle in and out of everything and really pay attention when the coaches are talking. If you don't know how to do something, ask, it will show you are trying to learn and get better. Every team needs guys with different skills. So maybe you aren't a great hitter but you can pick it and run. Teams need guys like that. Or maybe you can bomb but suck in the field. That is okay, teams need guys like that too. Just give it a shot and see where you are at. Don't give up before you even know. Go in thinking you are good enough and see what happens.
