Cos we are asians la. That’s why it’s a mess. We have a special ability to complicate even simple things. I didn’t realise how bad we have it until I had an Ang mo boss.

And he points out blatant facts - Why do you have to work late just cos they so disorganised / last minute? Whats the context of this request? Why are ppl bugging you in the middle of the night? How is this productive? What’s the point in all of this? Why do ppl like meetings and presentations so much when they’re a waste of time? Just focus on what needs to get done!

My boss isn’t Asian. The cultural exchange is interesting but I’m also forced by him to be more assertive to the nonsense.

It’s not easy. Because while my boss assumes I’m an equal the Asians don’t see it that way. So I’m stuck. But it’s ok cos my boss is straight up awesome. At least I feel like I can enjoy my work and focus on doing good work instead of caring what ppl think.
