I'm "trans", but I have problems with the whole trans movement and have no plans of transitioning. It still really sucks

I think you make a good point of discussion. Gender roles are generally a social construct. If they weren't so ingrained into how people think things should be, then it would be different for people. Many people who are considered/consider themselves trans may not consider themselves trans if gender roles didn't exist, they would just be people who are doing what they want without gender roles because they wouldn't have that barrier that makes them think they can only do certain things as a specific gender. It's a mental response to the social construct perhaps, a response that may not happen in a world without it to respond to. It then becomes a matter of the difference between gender and gender roles, if there is a difference between them or if gender is just gender roles. If the whole gender concept was not a thing, then perhaps only sex would be left and many people who are trans wouldn't be as bothered about that because they'd be doing whatever they feel like they need to do as the roles wouldn't exist. So I think there may be a good chance if there was a parallel world that saw no gender roles, then many people who are trans in this world would be like you instead and just be free to do whatever they feel without needing to think they have to make that gender change. Perhaps some people would still feel themselves as the other gender though, despite that and we'd get the answer to the differences. It's a complex topic and I'm trying to be as tactful as possible, but I think your outlook is a totally valid one that maybe more people should accept as part of a progressing world. Unfortunately for now, gender roles being categorised isn't going anywhere. But like in the [_]s, I'll support what you think there because I think it makes sense.
