Do you see yourself and others that have functional modifications differently than those with aesthetic modifications, such as scarification, tattoos, some piercings and "non-functional" modifications? (please describe your thoughts) 3. Do you feel a sense of unity/community among other people with functional modifications? What are, if any, the customs and values common to the functional modification subculture that may be different than those of the larger body modification culture? (please give examples) 5.
