Just diagnosed...

As far as i know, you can't diagnose IBD without scopes and biopsies. Usually the first line of medication is steroids like prednisone until you can get on IBD specific medications. I personally won't take heavy pain medication for chronic pain because of building up tolerance and addiction but that's a personal decision. Stomach pain can be very bad with IBD, but it's usually accompanied with stool symptoms, like diarrhea with blood and mucus. Weight loss. Anemia. I'm not saying you don't have IBD. But from what you've said they weren't very thorough and they didn't prescribe what is usually prescribed for IBD. The are other things that can be wrong with similar symptoms. Do you have a primary care doctor you can get in sooner with?
