Is it just me or was season 3 uneventful?

Totally.

Plus, I feel like there was a total lack of heroes and villains.

I used to love Crazy Eyes, but I feel as though she lost her charming yet vulnerable innocence about her.

I used to love Sophia, but she became unethical in her own way as well this season. (I did like the attention on trans issues though.)

I used to love Soso, but her egotistical (pre-depressive) characterization made her hard to like.

Piper has lost virtually all likable characteristics. (She was vengeful in past seasons, sure, but depriving an inmate of her release two days prior by framing her and sending her to max? That is something Vee would have done. It's sadistic. Don't get me wrong. I love character development, but how can you make the main protagonist so detestable?

I couldn't root for anyone this season, perhaps because there were no personified villains this season. I've heard some people call the prison system or MCC the villains, which I guess is true, but that's a terribly boring villain.

I can't help but feel there was no conflict, nobody to get behind and cheer on, nothing keeping me on the edge of my seat.

With Vee, I was always worrying about how, when, where she would make her next move. She was calculating, and nobody, nowhere was safe. Vee was willing to do anything, hurt anybody, and do anything to achieve her ends.

What the fuck's MCC gonna do? Turn off the hot water? Exhilarating.

I thought the panty sniffing subplot and Suzanne's erotica subplot were ridiculously vapid too.

Overall, I would definitely say that this was a dull season. It's set up well for a fourth season, but come on! I'd love to see more action and drama! More twists and unpredictability! That's what makes TV fun.

The themes and social commentary were strong this season, as they should have been, but nothing can make up for a dull plot and unlikable characters.
