Tipping shouldn’t be “required”

Exactly. All of the restaurants I’ve worked in don’t pay the 2.15/hr unless you don’t average minimum wage for the pay period in tips, in that case they pay you the difference. So the most I’ve seen on a serving check was about $30, usually they are just $0 checks. AND some restaurants have a tip share where you have to give a percentage of the gross income from your tables to the kitchen/hosts. When tables come in and don’t tip I always think that they basically got good service out of other people’s pockets. I still have to pay the kitchen 4% of their bill, that will come out of the tips from other generous people I served that day. If you don’t tip let the server know straight up so they don’t waste time trying to give you the whole experience, you can get your food and get out.
