Why "just move" is ridiculous

Yeah. My bf and I spent nearly all our savings moving from NC to NV. Had to put down 45k on our apartment (luckily this covered 3 months rent and the security deposit) cost 1400 for a moving truck, 900 for gas between my car and the moving truck, 400 for hotels/road food, and then the cost of job hunting... I'm glad we had the savings to make it happen, because NC kept getting more expensive and pay was staying the same. Within a few years we would have had no savings and we would have been stuck.

Though to anyone who is planning a cross country, 12+ hour move- rent a pod, not a truck. We didn't because it was 1k more up front, but if we hadn't rented the truck we could have saved the $$ we spent on gas for the truck and on hotels, because we could have taken turns driving instead of having to stop and sleep. A pod would have saved us 2 days of travel time and around $300.
