just saw Terminator Genisys [my thoughts] (possible spoilers)

The whole "T3 sucks in comparison to T1/T2" thing is kind of bogus though. I actually really liked T3 when it first came out and that was after being a fan of T1/T2. A lot of people seem to hate T3 for its forced plot but every single Terminator movie has serious plot problems. The big problem of T1 is that the entire premise of it is based on Skynet doing something that makes absolutely no sense - they send back the machine to stop Sarah from having John Connor, which results in Kyle Reese being sent back to protect Sarah. And John is only conceived because Kyle gets sent back to save Sarah. If Kyle didn't go back, there is no John, hence the machine going back creates the reality for John to exist, which means if the machine didn't go back, there would be no John, there would be no war, but if the machine going back is what allows for John to exist (because it gets Kyle to go back), then how did John happen in the first place? He doesn't. It's forced writing.

T2 has the big problem of showing us how Skynet is created - because of the Terminator that was sent back in T1 being studied and its technology put to use to create Skynet - so again, if Sarah just got to be Sarah, there would never be such a thing as Skynet. Oops.

They're just movies and they're all seriously flawed. I think the only reason anyone remembers them better than more modern releases is they were kids when they saw the originals, or its the time + nostalgia = impossibly better. Genisys was bad for a lot of reasons. Most of it having to do with impossible plot problems. But when I look at all other Terminator movies, including 1 and 2, they suffer for the same reason.
