Just watched Deadstream on Shudder!

pretty much all of the lighting was practical, with a few little hidden accents here and there - the rig they built for the camera was really clever. I think all in all there was a good couple of weeks of filming in the house including reshoots and stunts/rehearsals. The Winters script was very tight and they had a really good idea of what they wanted beforehand - ironically they started principal photography without an AD because they were so used to working with each other and the DP (who are all very good friends of mine) and i actually came on pretty late into filming to help get them back on schedule and keep time.

That house is kind of an infamous house in utah - it is actually an abandoned old pioneer house - there wasn’t much we had to do exterior to dress it - and inside, when i asked the production designer what was dressing and what was already there, pretty much al the furniture and stuff. Though were a few items we honestly weren’t sure about. There’s a scene where Sean (joseph) goes into this hidden root cellar to find a trunk with the diary in it, and inside it was covered in cobwebs and had these old barrels in it, and there was this mummified cat looking prop - i asked how the production designer got it to look so realistic and she looked at it in horror and said “that’s not mine!”. I don’t recall the budget, i wasn’t there for any preproduction. but it was a lot of favors called in that’s for sure.

We’ve all known each other for years and had such a blast making the movie that we got most of us back together again when shudder asked the Winters to make a segment for VHS99 - and i was very lucky that they wrote a part in it for me and asked me to star in it with joseph! so be on the lookout for that coming out on the 20th! (i think?) Our segment is called “To Hell and Back”!
