Do you have a kind of character do you generally play?

I love to mess around with tinkerer characters who make do with what they find and throw odd and unusual actions into the mix. They're mindful characters with deft fingers whose normal combat abilities are lacking, are generally able to do cantrips at best, but whose ability to improvise is second to none.

If the DM provides random junk loot, I'm the player who will be buying it off the other players. When a random item is required to complete a task in a frontier village, I'm the player who will reach into his pack and already have it. When everyone looks through their packs to see what items they have available, I'm the player who has to sift through half a dozen pages of miscellaneous goods before getting to anything actually useful.

I'm the star of Extreme Hoarders: D&D Edition who rarely has exactly what's needed, but often has something that works just well enough to be shoe-horned in with a few good whacks with a hammer.

This tends to cause my DM a wee bit of frustration, though, so I don't play the improving tinkerer too often.
