LABIOTTE Mini Haul - Face & Body Products!

Eternal Ever Bounce Skin Care Line "The firming moisturizing line provides vitality to skin with its ingredient of AMIDERM Everlasting”, which is LABIOTTE-speak for a moisturizing line aimed at targeting aging skin. AMIDERM is trademarked and seems to refer to some kind of ingredient delivery system which isn't explained very well on the website; a lot of it sounds like jargon word salad "technology that fills the skin with plant-oriented energy and active ingredient by making the structure skin friendly". While I cannot speak to the anti-aging claims (because I don’t really have any wrinkles), this line is definitely moisturizing. It has Ceramide 3 and Cholesterol in all of its products, although in what amounts I do not know. (And who doesn’t like a good mystery!?) It also contains something LABIOTTE is calling ‘Baby Leaf Complex’ which is basically its own version of innisfree’s Jeju juice (thanks for that /u/sharkus_reincarnus), a blend of botanical sprout extracts that include broccoli, sunflower, rapeseed and kale, all of which combat free-radicals. Apparently in sprout form, these plants are packing the most beneficial punch. It’s a smoothie for your face! The sample sizes for two of these products was super generous and I've placed them next to Benton's Snail Bee Essence for comparison's sake. They're pretty big and very generous, with both the Softener and Emulsion measuring at 60ml.

  • Eternal Ever Bounce Softener: I read the instructions on the packaging and the website; neither defined which step this should be, however, based on the texture and consistency, this is a toner-like product. I say ‘toner-like’ because I can’t imagine it being anywhere else in a routine. The texture reminds me a lot of Hada Labo’s Gokujyun Light Lotion: very watery, a lot of slip. It sinks in fairly quickly but I don’t think it’s as effective at prepping your skin for moisturization as other toners I’ve used. I noticed that in the morning after I used this, my face had gone into oil overdrive so the product line is obviously too heavy for my skin and I don’t think my skin got the most benefit from the products either.
  • Eternal Ever Bounce Essence: I feel like the serum/essence step of an AB routine is where it really shines; you can customize and add however many products you need based on what your skin's particular needs are at any given time. It's the one place we can ensure targeted treatment for wrinkles, pimples, discoloration, etc. This essence has some great ingredients in it (licorice, sodium hyaluronate) but overall, it's mostly packed with extracts that aim to moisturize your skin. You can moisturize your skin in a different step, using this essence would be adding a useless product to your routine and there are so many great serums and essences out there that can perform circles around this. It absorbs pretty nicely, there's little specks of something (it looks like pollen) in it that are proabably meant to reinforce the idea that these products are ~botanical~, but unless you're a newbie looking to moisturize dry skin, this product is a dud. I can see it being a great starter essence before moving on to essences and serums that DO something.
  • Eternal Ever Bounce Emulsion: This is basically a facial lotion/moisturizer. It’s creamy, but sinks in quickly, even on my oily skin. It’s obviously too heavy for me, but I could see this being a great moisturizing step for someone with dry or even combo skin. I could probably use this in the winter time here in Sweden so I want to hold on to it. The scent, like everything in the Eternal Ever line, is kind of botanical but in a really pleasant non-planty sort of way.
  • Eternal Ever Bounce Cream: A pretty heavy, emollient cream, I’d say this is heavy duty and only really suited to people with dry skin or combo but only on their dry patches. Before this haul I had planned on ordering this alone as I needed a good, thick cream to help my Curology-induced tret flakes, but this is a lot heavier than I expected. The only thick facial creams I can compare it to are Dear by Enprani’s Bounce Cheese Cream and Freeset’s Donkey Milk 3D Cream; it is thicker than both of those.

Freniq Turn Over Masks A lot of the LABIOTTE items have English on them which is fantastic. These masks not only have directions in English, but ingredients are listed in English also. One of the neat things about these masks is that the directions say to put the mask in the fridge until the sensor sticker on the front turns green, which takes about 10 minutes max. Most of us put our masks in the fridge for a nice cooling sensation on our faces (which is great in the summer), so I’m glad LABIOTTE went out of their way to put a little sticker on the package to add to the skincartainment part of the masking experience. The instructions say to put this mask on as the first step in your routine, which I did the first time with the Soothing mask, but I felt like it acted almost as an occlusive and didn't allow any of my following routine to penetrate properly. If you let your layers sink in properly before moving on, I think it's fine to use this towards the end of the routine like usual.

These masks come thoroughly soaked in essence, but there is very little left over in the packet. They come with a sheet backing on them, similar to the ones My Scheming and Freeset Donkey Milk masks use. These Freniq masks had a pretty decent fit, my only gripe about them is that they were made for someone with a much longer face because the mouth area was way lower than where mine sits and I had extra mask at the top that sort of went over my hairline. Admittedly, I have a very small face so I am not surprised. However, the eye holes fit me pretty well (and I have giant cartoon googly eyes), I had plenty of mask to cover my nose, cheeks and after some adjustment, my mouth and chin area too. The packaging says “Nude Mask” and the material is quite thin; it reminds me of the My Scheming silk masks. It is pretty transparent on your skin like the My Scheming masks, so you can feel free to answer the door for the pizza dude/ette.

The masks in this line all have an AHA blend that includes citric acid, sodium lactate and glycolic acid, hence the 'Turn Over' part of the name. They also contain something LABIOTTE is calling "BFW 100 (Boosting First Water)" which is a trademarked blend of oxygenated water, sea water, peat water and purified water. It feels like bullshit marketing to me, but good for LABIOTTE trademarking a blend of water from different sources. I have to put out a warning about these masks though: they have alcohol in them and when you open the mask, you can smell it. I would say that it’s not nearly as bad as The Face Shop’s Real Nature series of masks, but probably on par with some of the Etude House I Need You masks. The scent (minus the alcohol) is rather light and fresh, but it’s not very strong so if you have a sensitive nose or dislike strong scents, this mask is fine. Most of the scent will dissipate when you are trying to put it on.

  • Soothing First Mask: I almost always have some redness on my face, particularly around the center. This mask did a great job of evening out my skin and calming it the fuck down. The masks themselves take quite a long time to dry up. My husband was playing Dark Souls III, so rather than watch a drama or Golden Girls reruns while I sheetmasked, I laid on the couch next to him while he shouted at the TV. About 40 minutes into my sheetmasking, the mask was still pretty damp and I accidentally fell asleep. I woke up after an hour and 25 minutes (I set a timer when I started) and the mask was drying out, slightly damp, but ready to be removed. You can leave these masks on for quite a long time, which, if you aren’t sensitive to alcohol, or any of the ingredients, you can do with no ill effects.
  • Anti-Trouble First Mask: I set out to use this when I started my monthly hormonal breakout. I had one particularly big and nasty red pimple forming near my right cheekbone so I was keen to pay attention to it before and after. I left the mask on for about 35 minutes this time as it was nearing bed time. The essence in these masks takes quite a long time to dissipate because when I took it off, it was still quite damp. I tapped the essence leftover on my face and after a few minutes it sunk in pretty well. I looked over my face in my bathroom vanity for a bit, seeing if any of my breakout-prone areas were improved. The nasty pimple I’ve got brewing got smaller, and now that it’s the next day as I’m writing this, it’s even smaller and there's no tenderness or pain when I press on it. It’s still red, but not nearly as bad as before, the area of redness has significantly decreased. I think the Anti-Trouble mask helped the pimple to be less pissed off.
