Summary of meeting with manager: Was a “typo” and now price is $149.

Mandatory maximum speed internet included. I already have that at a discount so effectively for me, it’s $89 for the other services I don’t care about.

Services included that I don’t want and will be forced to pay for if I stay:

Trash collection from my door. We already have this and it’s $35. That was just to ease us into it and make us think, “Well it’s not much more than what we’re already doing if you consider the internet being bundled in.”

So effectively the new services are going to cost me $54.

Smart thermostat, smart locks, water sensors on fridge, washer, water heater that will alert if there’s a leak. This is definitely cool, but $54 a month for 12 months means I’m paying nearly $650 for it. Not only that, we are responsible for damage “beyond normal wear and tear.”

The stuff I really don’t care about: package delivering service, online exercise classes, and a fucking 10% discount at the pizza place down the street. I’m so fucking pissed.

I gave the manager feedback that I wish I didn’t have any of this and I would rather just take out my own trash and pay for my own internet. The state of the economy is insane and rent is so high, people probably don’t want this stuff and she told me that the demographic does want it because these are “luxury” rentals. Lmao. Not even close to luxury, but okay.

They finally announced in the apartment app their diabolical plan, and the post only has 2 likes. I replied “I wish they had put out a survey to see if we actually want this. I wonder what the results would be.” And they won’t approve my comment.
