Is this Laptop suitable for an architecture student?

What you have as an option is way too advanced for a beginner.

If I started right now, I'd rather invest in an iPad Pro 11" , Apple pencil, and iPad Keyboard. if it's only for the first 2-3 years. It allows way more flexibility for sketching and drawing, making presentations, organizing notes and also the iPadOS experience is really smooth, easy to carry and over all sleek. It's also more dependable and works for more than 5 years without any hassle. And the M1 chip. Need I say more. I guess you might get it under 1100$ with all the student offers going on.

But, if you want only a laptop right now, it makes sense to buy a Dell Inspiron with 15" or equivalent. It'll help you make presentations, notes, basic CAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Lightroom, and some render software. This will help you get a more hands on approach for your academics where you should prefer to explore making real models, sketches, collages, pencil drawings and inking. Which is important for the first few years to form a designing process. Decrease your digital dependency in your formative years. Which might feel old fashioned for professionals, but still works in the case of students.
