Leaving, for now.

If you were assigned male at birth and now identify as something other than your assigned birth sex, say woman, you are by definition transgender. If you still identify as a man, then by definition you are cisgender. Transgender and cisgender isn’t really something we identify as, more what we are. Gender is socially constructed as are the labels man and woman. Woman refers to identity not physical characteristics because there isn’t a physical characteristic that makes a woman a woman that applies to every woman. Female is different. Mtf transsexuals are not female. They are a physical blend of both male and female characteristics. I separate them easily. Transgender = identifies as something other than assigned sex/gender at birth. Transsexuals want to change their sex characteristics.

Most transsexuals are transgender by definition. Not all transgender people are transsexuals.
