He seriously kind of is though. The way he made Old Town Road blow up the way it did, and all the pieces that fell together (like billboard taking it off of the country charts, lefties getting outraged over it's "racism", it becoming a tik tok craze) in order to make it a thinkpiece hotbed was nothing short of genius. He clearly has a flair for networking and controversy build up, plus his intimate relationship with the internet is the reason why he's been able to build such a big audience. I can't think of anyone else of his status who genuinely feels in touch with the social media crowd the way he is, for example each of his new singles he attaches a meme to it.
