List of things "up Holland's sleeve" over the past decade:

  • Signing Franzen long-term over Hossa (our last 40-goal scorer)

  • Losing Janmark and Backman for a 36-year-old Erik Cole who only played 11 games for us.

  • Losing Jarnkrok for a 33-year-old Legwand, who played 21 games for us.

  • Losing various prospects to waivers.

  • Signing Jonathan Ericsson to a 6-year, $25.5 million contract with an NTC.

  • Signing Abdelkader, at age 29, to a 7-year, $29.75 mil contract with an NTC.

  • Signing a injury-ridden, 29-year-old Darren Helm to a 5-year, $19.25 million contract with an NTC.

  • Losing out on Chychrun in order to dump Datsyuk's contract on Arizona so that we would have room to negotiate with Stamkos... who wouldn't even take a meeting with us.

  • Protecting an ageing and injury-prone goalie on a horrible, untouchable contract over a young prospect who has shown flashes elite athleticism and coordination and who will be an RFA after next season.

That's just off the top of my head. I want off Mr. Holland's Wild Ride.
