Little fun activity

Entry #300: September 22nd, D-56 till college entrance exams.

Just yesterday, the scalding summer sun had burned my skin. Just yesterday, I remember the air being uncomfortably warm, I remember the droning cries of cicadas, the sticky humidity that hung to my clothes, the kids who wore short sleeves and shorts as they bought ice cream to fight off the heat, the old ladies who carried flower-patterned parasols to fend off the glaring sun.

I've always hated summer weather. My homeroom teacher always did tell me that studying through summer would be the hardest obstacle, and she was right.

Today is D-56. Merely one day less from yesterday. Another 24 hours to plow on through the heat.

But when I woke up this morning, summer had disappeared.

Gone was the warmth, the saturated yellow rays, the cicadas and their calls, not a single trace to be found.

The wind was colder, refreshing, seeping through the fabric of my shirt that suddenly felt too thin. The skies were impossibly bluer, not a single cloud to be seen.

Autumn. I'd always adored it, growing up.

It shouldn't make sense that the crisp breeze makes me shiver. It's irrational, the temperature hadn't dropped so severely.

When had summer ended?

56 days left. It's only one day less from 57. But the wind bites, and my fingers do not stop shaking.
