Liverpool are set to be put into tier 2 today, meaning 2,000 fans will be able to attend Anfield.

Unless I'm mistaken I haven't actually heard of any dates for when fans can actually return to stadiums, and frankly I don't see anything but pilot schemes before January myself.

The one aspect of coronavirus that is very is to follow is the numbers, they have shown a pretty consistent trend across the world in terms of the patterns of first and second waves. I'm no kind of expert but it is likely we'll have at least one more significant wave following this and if the government actually moves fast I'd expect a third wave to be classified as such around the end of January, and hopefully contained a lot better but let's be honest look who's in charge.

There's no perfect time to reintroduce fans this season without risk, but I guess we'll see how the first few go. Obviously where it concerns Anfield 2000 people is a fairly straightforward undertaking in terms of safety and social distancing. I'm not demonising the moves yet, but obviously I think the scheduling of this reintroduction likely puts fans back in stadiums during a much more brief lull in covid cases and long term it's probably just not going to stick until a sizeable portion of the population are vaccinated.
