MX has some great jazz bands, some decent blues bands, pretty crappy rock bands, and lots of merengue, cumbia, and salsa bands.

If you want to keep it dead themed your next best option might be to bring someone with you who can DJ the event. This way you could pick out an entire evenings made up of versions of which songs you want to hear? You could rent DJ gear in advance and have it ready on arrival to keep you travelling light. There is a huge Music Store in MX City that handles tha kind of stuff and more, name eludes me right now, starts with a T, i think.
