No- and I wouldn't even in a Jump Chain- just gold is boring and not every universe might consider it a valued commodity- post-apocalyptic worlds- incidentally the best places to get gold- canned food is probably far more precious- though for storage and trade it'd probably best to use good steel/metal knives, hatchets, can openers and other tools- what use is gold when the zombies are at the gates?

More- gold is only worth so much because we consider it perty- oh sure, it has some uses in technology but otherwise it's a soft weak metal. It'd especially be worthless in sci-fi universes that aren't full of idiots- gold and many other metals can be found in asteroids- for those historic knowledge probably would be your best bet.
