As long as Matthew Whitaker is in place, the Russia investigation is in danger

I'll get downvoted to hell for this, but the part that really makes me sad and a bit angry is all the people who were gung ho about those protests right up to the moment it was go time. "Oh, it wasn't the right 'kind' of event to trigger off the protests, and besides, it's so spur of the moment and not at a convenient time and..."

The "Rosenstein fired" condition was never about Rosenstein's person but rather about his role overseeing the investigation. Whitaker being placed in charge of the investigation was, in effect, the same as Rosenstein being fired. The protests were always supposed to be Rapid Response. When it came down to brass tacks, though, the protests failed both in drawing a larger crowd as well as in their ability to garner more protests precisely because so many Americans are unwilling to put their money where their mouths are. Sure, they'll talk a fine game about doing whatever it takes to fight the good fight for freedom but heaven forbid you ever expect them to actually do something about it.

Good on those who did show up, however. I was in New York, and we had a decent sized crowd and I'll never regret doing what it took to show up.
