Also jesus was probably born 6th of january so 24th of December is sort of arbitrary. Not to mention i live in a heavily secular society. Its just consumerism masquerading as a traditional holiday.

Also gift exchanging makes little sense unless we're talking about children. Buying toys for children makes sense because they dont have their own economy. But im an adult, my mother is an adult. I can buy myself stuff if i need or want it. Same goes for her. She knows best what she wants, i know better than anyone what i want. So outsourcing purchases like this makes little sense. Especially if you factor in the fact the value will probably be similar. And i never know what my family wants because i have little to no interest in them or their lives. And i hate having to basically spend 8h+ with family. It's not what id call stimulating company...
