MMORPGS Were a Product of Their Time

I played UO, then I played Ragnarok, then I jumped from game to game a bunch... new MMORPGs are just not social.

Like UO was all about having friends, Ragnarok was all about having friends... then it was just a consistent decline in how social the games are... if you look at the "triple A" MMORPGs now they are almost like a mobile game where everything is super fast, queue to play an instanced meta game. Its like a hub with a bunch of instanced minigames.

Albion Online is the only game that captured me since Ragnarok, I play it a lot, but the direction the game is heading is sad, away from open world social gameplay and into instanced metagames, but its the only MMORPG out there that slightly captures that old school feel.
