MONTHLY /R/PORTLAND "I'M HIRING" THREAD: May 01, 2017

Looking for a quick odd job? If you have been screened for or diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), you may qualify to participate in a research study at OHSU! Also recruiting two more non-CAPD participants.

Flyer:

Subjects are invited to participate in a research study in Dr. Lina Reiss’s Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid Research Laboratory in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). The goal of this research project is to improve our understanding of the causes of central auditory processing disorders (CAPD). CAPD is characterized by difficulties with speech perception that is not explained by hearing loss or cognitive deficits. In this study, we are investigating whether individuals with CAPD experience abnormal integration of information between ears, and whether this abnormal integration could explain some of the speech perception difficulties with CAPD. Subject Criteria:

• Adults (18-59 years old) • Normal hearing sensitivity (candidacy will be determined by reviewing an audiogram completed within one year or through a hearing test completed at the research study visit) • Have undergone screening for CAPD, with the following diagnoses: - Confirmed negative for CAPD, or - At risk for CAPD

You will be asked to listen to sounds and words and respond by pressing the appropriate button on a computer touch screen. The time needed to complete the study will be 4-5 hours. In addition, you will receive $10/hour for your time. If you would like to participate in this study or for more information, please contact the research staff using the information below:
