The Monthly "Tell Us About Your Game" Megathread - November

Spoilers for The Lightless Beacon! (Hopefully the spiller tags work)

So I just finished running my first session for god's know how long. I ran for a new group of players, two of whom haven't played since high school (so 20+ years ago) and the third hadn't played an RPG before.

I ran the Lightless Beacon as it is perfect for a quick "getting to know you" session and is really well put together for someone as nervous as me about running a game. (Realistically for the first time since high school ignoring a couple of abortive attempts last year).

The characters we used were the FBI Agent, the Marine Biologist, and the Antiques Dealer.

>! Due to the Antique Dealer's worry about his friend they completely missed the body in the woods at first and did a poor job of searching the study, thus missing the lovely handouts I made. Grrrr.

They basically went straight to the lamp room and things went south for them rather rapidly. They ended up fighting Younglings in the cottage (with the FBI agent managing to one shot one of them in the face) and inadvertently setting the cottage on fire after throwing a Molotov at a Youngling in the kitchen.

They escaped the cottage with the Younglings in hot pursuit. They headed south through the woods with the Antiques Dealer failing a Dex check and falling face first into the remains of the Agent's colleague. This finally tipped the Agent over the edge and, in temporary insanity, he fled through the woods firing blindly behind him. Narrowly missing the other characters.

Upon finding the second row boat, the marine biologist managed to calm the Agent down and get him into the boat before casting off with the Antiques Dealer covering them with the last three bullets.

They rowed into the night and toward the mainland with the Marine Biologist making some amazing rolls allowing them to leave the remaining pursuing Youngling in the their wake.

They were so relieved to see a friendly figure bearing a lantern on the far shore that they didn't look too closely at the figure as he reached down to help them ashore and only too late did they notice the bulging eyes and sallow skin of the Deep One Hybrid. Scenario ends. :D !<

Glad to say everyone really enjoyed it and it looks like I now have a regular CoC group. :) The only question is, what next? I'm thinking Dead Man's Stomp or a quick trip to Peru to meet Mr Elias as I have Masks winging its way to me as I type. :)
