'Mulan' Receives First PG-13 Rating for Disney's Live-Action Remakes

You still haven't cleared up your point...

Why in the world would you say that the hugely popular Mulan movie is being made purely for China? It's crazy. Even if China didn't become a the viable market it has, they'd still do a remake.

I do find it odd that, to you, not including certain depictions of death/magic is Disney getting the CCP is write their script. My man, any Hollywood movie that wants to do anything in the Chinese market will forgo the things the CCP doesn't like. In many cases, these things will just be edited for the country's market, but there are times where studios won't have any differences between the chinese version and the rest of the world.

You say creatively bankrupt, but they got rid of the musical side, got rid of the goofy side character, and are seemingly stripping away all the Westernization/Disneyfication of the folklore story. It looks the most promising of them all.

I do think they will pander to China, but the MCU does that too and is still pretty enjoyable.
