Multiple women allegedly sexually assaulted at Ont. house party after OJHL hockey players tweet "#consentisoverrated"

Wow, this is just so much. Let's tackle this:

You should read more carefully - every time I say "people" you hear "men". In other news, teaching about consent does not just aim to stop people from raping. It also aims to dismantle the support rape and sexual assault get from society at all corners - people that dismiss sexual assault allegations even with evidence, that don't take victims seriously, that endeavor to shield their friends from consequences, that work actively against them by having that rape kit go missing or using the illgotten therapy notes with the details of their assault from the student health center against themselves all need education as well. These groups are made up of men and women. On the flip side, I don't see why boys don't benefit from being taught about boundaries + consent wouldn't include their own boundaries.

Re: claims, for what exactly do you want statistics? For women soldiers more likely to be raped? By the DOD's own statistics, without unreported cases. About Memphis spoiling 15000 rape kits by waiting more than 10 years to test them? About Detroit's own 25 year rape kit back log? About rape conviction rates, which are the statistics of the FBI and the Department of justice?

Never mind that I never said anything about false reports, I know that the 2-8% statistic comes from an academic paper. How about you cite sources and tell me where the MRA estimate comes from and why they think it occurs so high with rape? Because with these low conviction rates, what is there to gain? A mob of people that want to ruin your reputation, private and professionally?

Btw: Goverment statistics in the link also estimate about 68% of rape is unreported. We have some fucking clue, just like we collect estimates on under reporting for every crime.

I still don't fucking know, why you think kids will be so traumatized by being taught not to rape. We teach young kids not to steal and noone has yet convincingly managed to show that being told that they could potentially be thiefs is bad for their psyche. Also, I have no idea how you think people want to educate kids - we don't start how not to steal with lectures on fraud. We start with teaching children that people saying no means to respect that and not about date rape drugs.

Your baseless insistence that teaching people consent is traumatizing is especially insulting given that PTSD is common complication rising from sexual assault and rape. I ask again, why are the feelings of men more important than minimizing rape?
