My Cat was just diagnosed with FIP

I just went through the FIP scare this past week. My cat had increased work of breathing so we took him to the emergency vet. There they found fluid around his lungs. They tapped it and said the fluid looked just as you would expect for wet FIP. Since our cat has a strange history with subcutaneous growths requiring steroids, which were thought to be autoimmune vs possibly cancer, we opted to test the fluid for FIP in case there was a chance it was something else. I just got the results back today and it turns out his FIP PCR is negative! The vets are now thinking it is likely lymphoma but since he has a strange presentation, it is hard to know for sure. All I do know is that he has responded super well to his meds over this past week; he is acting more himself than I’ve seen in weeks.
