My Facebook Feed right now...

I've been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime. I've been very blessed and been able to, due to my profession see everyone from the Stones to Metallica and get paid to do it. I have a particular affinity for 80's stuff, but that's another story.

When I was in fifth grade, my very first concert was a Garth concert. We were incredibly lucky, and got to see him perform at the state fair in what I think was 1990. The State Fair stands are not a huge venue, so it was a big deal to get tickets because he was blowing up at the time.

I've seen Angus Young do the shimmy across the floor from ten feet away during 'Thunderstruck,' and I've been close enough to George Strait during a concert that his movement with a guitar almost hit my lens while I was shooting it. Neal McCoy was an asshole, and Trace Adkins was worried about going on because one of his little girls (who has severe food allergies,) wasn't feeling well.

And over twenty years later I met Garth, and for the time that I had with him I told him that out of all the acts I had seen, that little Hutchinson Kansas venue concert back in 1990 was the best concert I had ever seen. I was in fifth grade, and "Friends in low Places" was a song that was way beyond my understanding at the time, but I loved it, and being there and experiencing that event was a huge part of what I do for a living.

He actually looked like he was shocked to hear that for a moment, then he told me that he remembered that concert. It may have been bullshit, but he really sold me at the time.

So, yeah, long story short, I've seen all of the biggest acts in the world, but Garth puts on a show like nobody else.
