My wife got laid off back in March 2020 due to the pandemic. She only worked part time prior. But she got that sweet unemployment money regardless. All in all she got $18k spread out over a few months. Since she’s never had that kind of income before and we don’t need the money I invested 100% of it. It’s now a fat bag of VET worth a couple hundred grand. On the flip side of that coin though, my mother asked me for investment advice she complained that only 4 out of the 5 coins/stocks I recommended buying have seen substantial returns, and acts like I screwed her because of the one that didn’t even though she’s up overall. So I won’t be helping any more family members invest in the future.
