My struggle watching this

Imo Indian Matchmaking is a trashy reality show cloaked in a thin veneer of "tradition" and "culture" (and Netflix's high production budget!). I'm not sure about this but I think the show was also geared towards young Indians who actually live in the subcontinent rather than NRIs or people from other countries, so the context wasn't really needed because it was assumed that the relatively small group of Indians who even have access to a (comparatively expensive) paid streaming site would understand what what was going on, even if they hadn't experienced/participated in that sort of thing. My personal experience of watching it with friends consisted mostly of just hate-watching it for the drama and the awfulness of almost everyone on the show and only occasionally discussing it on any deeper level.
