My wife and i are about to host an exchange student from Thailand... can you give us some do's/dont's to be a good host family?

No, it didnt. The fans, appliances, helmets, food, and shampoo were different. The bookstore and computer store were different, too. Even the food court was different. At Target, you have 100 fans to choose from, including McMansion quality Emerson fans that cost $500. At Tesco, you have a dozen choices, and they are all plastic, disposable shit. At Target you can have a food processor, mixer, bread machine, slow cooker, ice maker, juicer, sewing machine, waffle iron, regular or Belgian, water filter, in line, counter top, or pitcher, pressure cooker, with jars and lids. You can choose dorm style appliances or expensive Kitchen Aid appliances. At Tesco you can have a crappy rice cooker or a crappy rice cooker. I just checked the Target website. It has 765 choices of shampoo. Baby shampoo, pet shampoo, medicated shampoo, gift sets of shampoo, shampoo for your shampoo. At Tesco, I hope you like Pantene. Yes, Tesco sells "helmets". Motorcycle helmets. For $6. SIX DOLLARS! The food court has Coke, Sprite, and fuck you. But a barista will expertly prepare a 3-in-1 powdered instant coffee for you if you want. The computer store has "Solly mistah, don't have." Its right next to the Samsong phones and the Beets headphones. Tesco in Thailand would compare to the old Woolworths stores in the US, not to a Target. Its mostly flea market merchandise. You can buy a cordless drill there. But not a Makita. Not even a Black and Decker. The brand is Wuhan Lucky Lucky Ancestors Lucky Trading Company. Even the food is different. The meat department at Tesco is well stocked with hides, horns, hair, beaks, feet, and guts. The bakery and dairy departments have Wonder Bread and yoghurt. The stores are 75,000 square feet, but 66,000 square feet is instant noodles and palm oil. Southeast Asia does not have the abundance or quality of consumer goods that you would find in any Target store. It has disposable shit for poor people.
