Mysterious illness tied to marijuana use on the rise in states with legal weed

Doesn't seem like anti mj propaganda bullshit. Since reading this I can think of several but definitely one patient I've had that presented with abdominal pain and vomiting that had been going on off for several months. No fevers, no abnormal abdominal scans or blood tests. This one patient in particular stated she had been seen by a lot of doctors with no diagnosis. I remember asking the routine drug use question and she did admit to marijuana. I thought at the time it was probably a good idea and thought nothing of it being a user myself. She ended up signing herself out against medical advise after being unhappy with the ER doctors course of treatment, which was just repeating the same tests and meds that showed nothing and did nothing for her. Honestly I labeled her a drug seeker to myself and was fine with her walking out.

After reading this, maybe this was her problem. Just like there are some Asians who have an almost allergic reaction to drinking alcohol, maybe there are some people who have these types of reactions to heavy long term marijuana use. Besides the course of treatment is basically to just stop use, stay hydrated and everything resolved in a few days. Maybe it's your body's way of telling you to take a tolerance break.
