Anyone looking at the forward group and thinking that a trade is incoming?

This offseason will sure be an interesting one for the Leafs and I am going to attempt to break down what might transpire.

What happens to these players?

Tyler Bozak - Bozak proved that he isn't just Kessel's side bitch and can effectively play a top six role this past season. After winning the the draft lottery we are likely to select the almost conciseness first overall pick Auston Matthews, who could immediately step into the a top six centre role. Between Kadri, Bozak, Nylander and Matthews, Bozak is the odd one out. I believe that there would be some interest around the league and that we could fetch a decent return.

Peter Holland - Holland's contract is coming off the books and is going to be an RFA this offseason. Holland has shown that he is a decent bottom six centre which we could hopefully trade for some draft picks, or throw him into a bigger trade.

Matt Hunwick - The Leafs have a logjam of fifth/sixth defenseman and Hunwick is unfortunately the oldest. Hunwick was given top pairing minutes in the earlier parts of last season and did alright in the role. With all the young defenseman and any others that we sign through free agency, I cannot see Hunwick being given too big of an opportunity here. A trade would be preferred.

Logjam of young defensemen - Percy, Loov, Harrington and Corrado will all be fighting for a roster spot on the Leafs come October but unfortunately they won't all be able to make it. Many of these players would have to go through waivers to go back down to the Marlies which is why a few of these players will be shopped in the offseason or early into next season.

Jared Cowen - Lou Lamorello has already stated that the plan is to buyout Cowen this offseason but his special cap credit could also be used as a trading asset.

Brooks Laich & Milan Michalek - These players both used to be very solid NHL players, but both their production has been on a steep decline in the recent years. Laich and Michalek will have to beat out an influx of young hungry AHL players looking for a full time spot on the Maple Leafs. The Leafs may also explore buying out these two as they are in their last year of their respective deals.

Joffery Lupul - Be careful, don't breath too hard around Lupul because he just may get injured. Rumor has it that Lupul may get the Robidas treatment and get put on LTIR for the remainder of his contract.

Sam Carrick -
