Net Neutrality, Please ELI5.

Is there any historical evidence that they would actually do that?

Thinking of Cable TV, there are packages. But the reason there are packages is NOT because your Cable Provider is trying to make money off you but because the channels themselves are charging more to the provider. It's why you always get "Home Shopping Network" even on the most basic package. It's because HSN will do anything to have your provider pump their channel into every house they can.

On the other hand any local sports cost more because of a "local sports fee" but that is not arbitrarily levied by the provider, it's charged by the seller (Fox Sports, etc.).

I guess I just don't see exactly what is pissing everyone off.

Sites already charge more for extra content, Reddit included. So that exists today and wont change if NN is repealed.

ISP's already cap and limit data, that exists and wont change.

What we should be worried about are ISP's picking individual sites and then saying that you can only access that site if you pay them more money? Is that it? Because the only instance I know of where that actually happened in is in Chicago and it wasn't the ISP's it was the government that levied a "Netflix" tax.

Sorry for the long post, I just don't seem to seem to understand the outrage that a lot of people are experiencing here.
