It's a new season. And once again, I would like to talk about the reviewing community.

I am not too sure where most of this is coming from, as I only really spend time on this subreddit, and most of the time, when this sub doesn't like something, people just don't say anything, and possibly downvote. Though I don't really read every post either, so it may happen. (If you are talking about YT comments... well... your problem is YT, not the mlp community).

I encourage you and everyone else to keep doing it, and to ignore the rude comments. When you put yourself out there, no matter what you do, you will get those people. You are only going to stress yourself out worrying about what people on the internet think about your videos.

That all said, I personally don't care for most reviews. I really tried to get into it back in season 3, but I couldn't. Here are 2 very important things a lot of reviewers suffer from (I have no idea if you suffer from any of these or not, as I haven't seen anything you have done... I don't think):

  • It can be very simple to make these videos, so a lot of people do. And they are boring. Video/lighting/sound are TERRIBLE. People just jump right into making a video without learning the very basics, and it can lead to a shaky start and bad backlash. If you want people to take you seriously, it takes a lot of effort. For example, Fandom Beats. They sadly stopped halfway through season 4, but they were amazing. Amazing video quality, editing, acting, personality. A lot of effort went into it. And it was great. The "Everything wrong with..." guy is pretty good too, but I don't watch them that often.

  • People confuse opinions and head canon with facts. This one probably annoys me the most. People don't generally think from the show creators perspective, so they fail to see things for what they are suppose to be. After an episode, I can tell who the writer was because each writer has their own way of doing things. I was trying to find a reviewer, back in the day, that talked about this type of stuff. I didn't find any.

Despite all that, I try to encourage everyone to do their thing, and just ignore the haters. Learn how to make your content more appealing, and you will find more people interested in your stuff. Sadly, I doubt this will get very far on this subreddit because the people who like reviews already know all of what you have stated, and the people who don't care for them will ignore this post. I almost did.
