NFL Draft - Round 1

i just did a quick google search on him. from Oregonlive.com (http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/04/oregon_ducks_in_the_2015_nfl_d.html). I know nothing about this site and how good they are at judging talent.

DE/DT Arik Armstead (6-7, 292)

Projection

Mid-to-late first round

Strengths

Perhaps no defensive prospect in the entire draft has a better body than Armstead, who is blessed with size, length, a big lower half and the athleticism to make it all look really good.

If the Oregon defensive lineman puts it all together he could develop into an every-down star, capable of stuffing the run and getting to the passer.

Weaknesses

Where to begin?

In an ever-evolving NFL, it's a pass-driven league, meaning defensive linemen need to be able to get to the quarterback. Last season at Oregon, Armstead registered just 2.5 sacks and displayed almost no secondary moves beyond a bull rush. When sheer strength didn't work, the Ducks standout struggled to win the battle up front.

Against the run, Armstead's size and length could help him develop into an elite defensive tackle, but he needs to learn to play the position. Despite a drool-worthy frame, Armstead has little understanding of what to do with his hands and is far too interested in the man lined up across from him than he is of shedding blockers and making plays. It's not hard to find film of him driving his lineman three-to-four yards back, only to see the running back run for a big gain right through the space Armstead just occupied.

The body is there, but it's surprising to watch how little Armstead appears to understand his position. The instincts to be elite simply aren't present and his development has been slow. Does he want to be a great football player? Is he mentally ready to be a fierce defender in the league?

Where I'd take him

As is the case with Mariota, I think the NFL scouts are too high on Armstead. However, unlike Mariota's situation, I don't see the case for him to be a first rounder at all. Simply put, Armstead has a long way to go to become a dominant defender and I don't know if he has the personality or instincts to seize that opportunity.

Scouts and coaches drool over the idea of "wait until he puts it all together," but those moments need to happen at least once a game in college for it to ever have a chance of materializing every down at the pro level. With Armstead, that happened a handful of times all season.

To me, he's little more than an enticing late-round flier.
