Call me a faggot, but I have 40,000 subscribers on iFunny and use both reddit and iFunny frequently. The issue with iFunny is just that it introduces material to a population that has a sense of humor that varies drastically from reddit and even 4chan. As a result, their interpretation and re-creation of a given meme often ruins several of the variables that caused the meme to spread in the first place.

That being said, there are tons of users on iFunny who have a sense of humor that varies drastically from what’s promoted in the feature section of the app. Unlike r/all, the feature section isn’t just what’s liked by the community, so posts that aren’t supposed to be readily relatable are often pushed aside in favor of memes that will generate more ad revenue for the app.

The problem is that memes can have a legitimate value until you add an iFunny watermark, even if they’re pretty unique. As soon as an iFunny watermark is added, any legitimate humor or commentary the meme might have had is inexplicably erased
