Not autism, not ADHD... just weird?

Hey! I’m “AuDHD” and don’t feel comfortable often in the Autism or ADHD specific subs. It took no time at all, though, for me to realize that /r/AutismWithADHD is my home.

People that are prone to black and white thinking and have their own insecurities about feelings invalidated are often going to dismiss people that self-diagnose, but people in this sub are generally much less judgmental and needlessly dissenting (imo).

As far as ADHD goes, I recommend finding a chart that specifies “executive functioning” skills and examine whether you believe you struggle in many or most areas. I found that approach to be more helpful than trying to identify with personal experiences (bc if you’re both, the autism plays against the ADHD in ways that can confound symptoms entirely). It can be maddening to make sense of but not impossible to sort out :)
