A note to basketball parents from someone whos dealt with you all weekend

Kudos to your for changing and growing as a parent. I must ask though, since you previously rationalized it as something that happened to you and as a sort of standard. Did you feel like it was beneficial to you as a kid? I mean idk where you were on the scale from negative reinforcement to fighting a parent in the middle of a court, but did you actually think it benefited you when you were younger or was it more just rose tinted glasses, “this is how I was raised and I turned out fine” type of thing?

Second, why do parents get so serious about an elementary basketball game? I mean, are all these people really just trying to get their kids scholarships? And even if the kid has that potential or talent.. is that really THAT important to them? I feels like some insane insecurity projection. I mean it seems clear that success strokes the parents ego far more than any kid cares about it.
