NSA shooting: 1 dead after 2 men dressed as women tried to crash gate outside Fort Meade

I agree it would be hypocritical for one person to make both those claims. Personally I am not. I think women have the right to defend their spaces from pervs. I'm personally into making gender neutral spaces but the world is never perfect. It's not going to be the end-all solution.

As far as drawing the line. That is just a huge can of worms that is impossible even for a trans person to bring up. It's an incredibly delicate thing. I mean, what is long term HRT? Even long termers can stop for a bit and their libido comes back. Post op is problematic too because it is a risky surgery that does not always yield good results. It's practically mocked on here for some of those reasons so it's really an individual decision. Everything to do with transition is a personal decision, so is the conduct of the person who is undergoing that transition. You hope they will have some sort of decorum or ethical mode of thinking but that isnt' always the case.

It's true that crossdressing is a common symptom of a few horrible mental issues so there are going to be a few nutbars baked into the trans cake by definition. However to say that "many" are crazy pervs is starting to stray into actual discrimination. I know the way you're saying it is technically true, a lot of stereotypical things are, I can't actually argue with that statement. It's just when it starts influencing people without them realizing it that I start to feel I should be watching my back. The idea of that being the popular view of society at large is why trans people feel the need to crush any sort of opposition. And consequently why they don't really want to even discuss the issue.

The best we could think of at New Narratives is to not allow that kind of transition to people with a record of sexual crimes. Obviously flawed, but not something I think anyone could object to that much. Problem is the trans wave is riding at an all time high level right now and is still not accepted as much as some would hope or like. This creates a situation where the trans movement does not have the motivation or the confidence to impose limits on itself. Hopefully trans will realize this before there is some sort of backlash. I think they really need to be in on this discussion now, leading and furthering it rather than trying to stop it. They risk being cut out of the loop once it becomes an actual policy-oriented debate rather than a petty battleground for the right and left to loudly proclaim over.

I wish people could just be nice, but that's life. I've been really feeling like I have no control over any of it and I'm just along for the ride. I don't want to be but I know I'm a part of this. It's really terrifying to think that all these people will in some way affect how I'm viewed in the future and how I'll be able to live my life in some very fundamental ways. In the same sense it also drains the whole thing of meaning. This is just how society operates. We are all dependent on each other and none of us really have control. Yet we are all units of it and can make a small change for the better. So it's when people are seen to be setting us back that we get most offended. It sort of cheapens the efforts we make in our lives to push it forward. Hopefully the strife and madness become wisdom somewhere down the line. My fingers are crossed.
